In an unusual move,Hamburg's Wueste Filmproduktion will remake the Finnish football comedy FCVenus before the movie is even in theatres at home.

Finnish production companyTalent House will start shooting the Joona Tena-directed Venus at theend of May, while the German remake, to be directed by Ute Wieland, will beginfilming at the end of summer.

Columbia TriStar NordiskFilm Distributors Oy is set for a Finland opening of the Finnish version inearly January 2006, while the German FC Venus will open in Germany atthe end of April - in time to capitalise on World Cup fever here.

The joint announcement wasmade by Talent House and Wueste at the European Film Market.

The original script, by OutiKeskevaari and Katri Manninen's, focuses on a group of women who become fed upwith their football fanatic husbands and put together their own team, FC Venus,to challenge their men to the game of their lives.

The German remake is beingwritten by Jan Berger.

According to Talent House'sJarkko Hentula, sales on the Finnish version will be launched by NordiskInternational Sales at Berlin's 2006 European Film Market, while the German"instant remake" will not have its international market premiere until the AFMthat autumn.

Wueste produced last year'sGolden Bear winner, Head-On.
