‘A Letter To David’

The FutureNARRATIVE Fund (FNF) has been launched in Berlin this week, which aims to provide financial support to German-Israeli co-productions and help connect artists from film, TV and theatre.

Speaking at the launch event in Berlin this week, FNF board member Lili Nagler said the fund will “provide the practical framework for filmmakers from Germany and Israel to meet each other, exchange ideas, work together and become friends and colleagues to build together a better future for both countries.”

The fund is looking to draw on “a combination of private investors, sponsorships from the film and cultural sectors and public funding”, said organisers, adding that a “diversified approach” would ensure that the fund maintains its independence.

It will be open to “established and emerging talents” from both countries.

The FNF’s board also includes theatre and film director Sharon On and composer-producer Mark Pinhasov.

Attendees at the FNF launch event included Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg’s CEO Sarah Duve-Schmid, FFA President Kirsten Niehuus, and producers Susanne Mann (zischlermann filmproduktion), Nataly Kudiabor (UFA) and Christine Guenther (Fireglory Pictures).

The first event organised by the FNF, together with Berlin’s Babylon cinema, will be a screening of Tom Shoval’s documentary A Letter To David - The Complete Version on Friday (February 20), which will be attended by the filmmakers along with the brothers David and Eitan Cunio.
