EXCLUSIVE: Film financier Grandave Capital has named Christopher Acebo CEO of its Grandave International sales arm. Acebo was previously CEO of Grandave’s Latinx production company Broken English Productions.

Jolene Rodriguez will be promoted from president to CEO of Broken English.

In his new role, Acebo will handle acquisitions of films at various stages, attending festivals and markets and working with Grandave International head of sales Tamara Nagahiro. He will continue to produce some passion projects (he was a producer on Broken English’s boxing drama 7th & Union).

Before joining Broken English at the start of 2020 Acebo was associate artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Rodriguez, also a producer on 7th & Union, and on Broken English’s upcoming thriller Righteous Thieves, will continue to develop and produce films under the Broken English banner. Before joining the company in July 2020 she was a development executive at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Grandave Capital CEO and owner Ruben Islas commented: “We are growing and after two solid years, as we are hiring, it was time to re-enforce those who have been the strong pillars of our group.”
