Liam Neeson is set to star in the crime thriller Memory, which Martin Campbell will direct and STXinternational has introduced to buyers in Berlin as the first title in its new output deal with Black Bear Pictures.

Teddy Schwarzman’s Black Bear is fully financing, and Cathy Schulman (Crash) produces through Welle Entertainment alongside Rupert Maconick and Arthur Sarkissian. Schwarzman, Michael Heimler and Ben Stillman are executive producers.

Production is scheduled to begin in the US in August on Memory, in which Neeson will portray an assassin with failing memory who goes on the run when he refuses to complete a job for a criminal organisation. The filmmakers are putting together an ensemble cast to join Neeson.

Dario Scardapane (The Bridge, Netflix’s The Punisher) wrote the screenplay based on the original Dutch film The Memory Of A Killer.

CAA Media Finance arranged financing and will represent North American rights. Elevation Pictures will distribute in Canada.

STX will distribute directly in the UK and Ireland. STXinternational previously partnered with Campbell (Casino Royale, Goldeneye), Schulman and Sarkissian on Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan action thriller The Foreigner.

The Berlin sales slate includes action thriller Remote Control to star Gerard Butler, who is attending a buyer presentation this evening.
