‘Wait For Me’

Munro Film has acquired UK-Ireland distribution rights to Wait For Me, the debut feature of UK-based filmmaker Keith Farrell.

Munro will release the film in cinemas on June 2 this summer, with filmmaker and cast events for local audiences in Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Lincolnshire where Wait For Me was filmed.

The film had its world premiere at Manchester Film Festival last month, where Farrell won best director.

It is produced by Thea Burrows and Margot Douglas for Manchester-based production company Old Hall Films, who struck the deal with Munro Film; with Ireland’s Tile Media also a producer.

The film follows two outsiders trapped by the criminal underworld, who try to replace the families they have lost by escaping to a new life.

With a script by Bernard O’Toole, the cast includes Karen Hassan, Sean McGinley, Elva Trill, Neil Bell, Rebecca Atkinson and Theo Ogundipe.

“Our priority has always been, and remains theatrical releasing,” said Frank Smith, managing director at Munro Film. “We are particularly happy that with such a strong regional focus and interest, we can offer cinema audiences something very special they can be part of.”

“We are thrilled that Wait For Me has pushed through and resonated with audiences,” said Douglas. “As a Northern company we feel strongly about representation up here and can’t wait for more people to see it in the cinema environment it was made for.”

It is the second Manchester Film Festival winner to secure distribution in the past week, after Bulldog Film Distribution picked up Jane Gull’s Love Without Walls.
