‘Traveller’s Hell’

Traveller’s Hell, a long-awaited Saudi psychological thriller based on a bestselling novel by Osamah Almuslim, has wrapped its edit and is set for a local theatrical release on November 19.

MBC Studios, the production arm of Middle East broadcaster MBC Group, said the film would open in Saudi Arabia through Qanawat Distribution before rolling out to further Arab cities in the following weeks.

The story follows a young woman who picks up a stranded motorist on a mountain road, only to find her act of kindness spirals into a nightmare. The cast includes Adwa Bader, Basil Alsole, Mohammed Ali, Shojaat Nashat and Aziz Gharbawi.

It marks the first feature directed by Hana Alomair, known for directing and co-writing Saudi’s first Netflix original miniseries, Whispers, and was filmed on location across the Kingdom. Producer is Mahfouz Al-Zahrani.

The screenplay was also written by leading Saudi author Almuslim and comes two years after a strategic partnership was struck between the writer and MBC Studios, aimed at adapting several of his popular literary works into film and television projects. MBC Studios previously produced 10-part fantasy adventure series Rise Of The Witches based on Almuslim’s books.

Alomair was named an Arab Star of Tomorrow by Screen International in 2020.
