‘4 Tigers’

EXCLUSIVE: Singapore’s Mokster Films has landed sales rights to Kongkiat Komesiri’s 4 Tigers, an upcoming action fantasy epic from the Thai studio behind the hit Ong Bak franchise, and will launch the title at AFM.

Best known recently for his Khun Pan film trilogy, Thai director Kongkiat returns to expand the universe with a spin-off about the manhunt of four legendary outlaws, known as Tigers, over a shipment of lost gold. They must navigate betrayal, bloodbath and black magic in a land of bandits during the chaos of the Second World War when Tigers also brutally hunt each other.

The original cast from Khun Pan 3 – Mario Maurer (also from Pee Mak), Arak Amornsupasiri and Phakhin Khamwilaisak – lead the ensemble along with Sukollawat Kanaros (Thirteen Lives) and Mashannoad Suvalmas (Mr. Hurt).

4 Tigers is an ambitious project that builds on the legacy of Khun Pan but explores a new dimension of Thai folklore and history,” said Kongkiat.

The Thai writer-director is known for gritty, socially-conscious action films, including 2012’s The Gangster, the Khun Pan trilogy, KinnPorsche: The Series and Netflix hit series Bangkok Breaking: Heaven And Hell.

Somsak Techaratanaprasert serves as executive producer through Sahamongkolfilm International. His Bangkok-based company has been in operations for more than five decades, with notable international hits including the Ong Bak trilogy, Tom Yum Goong and Chocolate.

Mokster Films has been championing distinctive Southeast Asian cinema for global audiences and will offer buyers an exclusive first look at 4 Tigers at AFM, which returns to Los Angeles from November 11-16.
