Singapore sales agent Mokster Films is expanding into production, making its first feature film Phantom with Taiwanese director Lester Hsi.

The horror film follows a social worker who encounters a series of mysterious deaths, which leads her to buried wartime secrets connected to a sealed cave. The story is a new take on the Invisible Man mythos but infused with Taoist mysticism.

“This film is about the fear that lingers in silence, in forgotten places, and in systems we take for granted,” says Mokster Films’ Nelson Mok, who is taking on the new role of producer for the first time. “By grounding the story in Taoist philosophy and historical trauma, we’re telling a horror that feels both intimate and unsettling.”

Fiona Hu (Black & White: The Dawn Of Justice) is also producing. Filming will start in the third quarter for delivery in 2026. Mokster Films handles international sales.

Through Taiwan-based production company D-Day Pictures, Hsi has previously directed 2020 box office success The Bridge Curse and its 2023 sequel The Bridge Curse: Ritual.

Mokster Films was launched last year by Mok, a former agent of WME Independent. He secured theatrical distribution in more than 120 territories for How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, a box office phenomenon which became the first ever Thai film shortlisted for the Oscars. It was announced this week that Miramax has picked up the film’s English-language remake rights.
