Lance Oppenheim’s Venice premiere Primetime and films by Chris Rock, Paul Thomas Anderson and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin have joined the BFI London Film Festival lineup.
Spanish star of Gala premieres The Beloved and Bunker Javier Bardem and US filmmaker Robert Eggers, whose next film Werwulf is released in cinemas on New Year’s Day, will take part in Screen Talks.
Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever and Anna Faris star in A24 Film’s Primetime, the narrative feature debut of US documentary maker Oppenheim. Pattinson plays the host of 2000s TV show To Catch A Predator Chris Hansen.
Toronto premieres joining the lineup are US comedian and filmmaker Chris Rock’s comedy Misty Green, which follows a washed-up actress as she attempts to turn her life around in the course of a week. Rosalind Eleazar, Anna Kendrick, Daniel Kaluuya and Adam Driver star alongside Rock. There’s also Thai hitmaker Banjong Pisanthanakun’s Inherit. An 80-year-old grandmother returns to her family looking exactly the same as when she disappeared 50 years prior.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s filmed version of Geese frontman Cameron Winter’s solo piano performance at the legendary New York concert hall, Cameron Winter At Carnegie Hall, plus Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin’s doc Everest: The Other Side will also screen at LFF.
Jonathan Glazer’s documentary short Joy Of Joys has also joined the lineup. It goes behind-the-scenes at London’s Abbey Road to capture the recording of a charity album from War Child Records, which aids children in conflict zones.
