Robert Guédiguian (The Army Of Crime) started principal photography last week on his latest film, Les Pauvres Gens in Marseille, France. The thriller, written by Guédiguian and Jean-Louis Milesi, centres on a couple whose life is destroyed when two armed masked men enter their home, assault them, tie them up and steal their wedding rings and valuables. The cast includes Ariane Ascaride, Jean-Pierre Darroussin as well as Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet among others. France 3 Cinema and Agat Films & Cie are jointly producing. Shooting is due to wrap in early October with Diaphana releasing the film in France and Films Distribution selling it internationally.

The murder of a model is only the beginning of a string of homicides in Enrico and Carlo Vanzina’s thriller Sotto Il Vestito Niente- L’ultima Sfilata, which is currently shooting across Scandinavia, Switzerland and Italy. Based on a screenplay by the Vanzinas and Franco Ferrini, the production stars Richard E. Grant, Alexandra Burman, Vanessa Hessler, Francesco Montanari and Paolo Seganti. Produced by Medusa, the film is scheduled to be released next year.

Shooting has just finished on Sophie - The Story Of A Big Friendship, the family film written and directed by Leif Bristow. Erica Durance, Brittany Bristow, Thure Riefenstein and Augustus Prew star in this English language project, which is jointly produced by Germany’s Constantin Film Produktion and Canada’s Knightscove Entertainment. The story focuses on a 17-year-old girl who grows up in the zoo her family operates, and whose life is all about her love of ballet and animals. Atlas International Film has been appointed as international sales agent and D Films will distribute in Canada.
