Edward Zwick will direct Richard Gere and Diana Silvers from Booksmart in the romance Asymmetry, which FilmNation will introduce to buyers in Cannes.
Zwick, whose credits include The Last Samurai, adapted the screenplay with author Lisa Halliday and Marshall Herskovitz based on Halliday’s 2018 novel of the same name.
Zwick and Herskovitz of The Bedford Falls Company will produce alongside Clay Pecorin of Rainmaker Films and FilmNation Entertainment. FilmNation is co-financing with Rainmaker and will launch international sales at the Cannes market and jointly represent US rights with CAA Media Finance.
Asymmetry follows a young editorial assistant in New York (Silvers) who experiences a chance encounter with a renowned author (Gere) in Central Park that leads to a vulnerable secret relationship.
