EXCLUSIVE: New US-based film and television distributor Chroma has acquired worldwide rights to Aaron Silverstein’s sci-fi SXSW selection The Infinite Husk, which heads to Sitges for its international premiere on Thursday (October 9).
Chroma is planning a limited theatrical and wide digital release in 2026 for the story about an alien consciousness named Vel who is sent to Earth to spy on one of its own kind. Landing in Los Angeles, Vel inhabits the body, or “husk,” of a woman played by newcomer Peace Ikediuba.
The film is said to invoke Downtown LA, film noir, and sci-fi films like Blade Runner and Arrival. Silverstein also wrote, produced, and composed the score for The Infinite Husk. After Sitges the film will screen at SXSW Sydney, which starts next week.
“Aaron is the embodiment of the purest nature of independent spirit,” said Chroma vice president Ahbra Perry. “The world he built, the score he created, and the cerebral journey he takes us on in The Infinite Husk are incredible, and ask permission from no-one.” Silverstein added: “I’m proud that Chroma will be an integral part of the mighty support system that will help bring this film to audiences around the world.”
Perry brokered the deal with Bill Straus of Bridge Independent. She previously worked at Alamo Drafthouse and Giant Pictures, and also works for Fantastic Fest, where she programmes Burnt Ends and the micro-budget funding competition Fantastic Pitches.
Chroma launched earlier this year to champion bold sci-fi, horror, and thrillers and is one of three distribution labels under Narrative Distribution alongside Wolfe Video and Persimmon.
