
The dates of the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival and affiliated market TIFFCOM have been revealed.
The 10-day film festival will take place from October 26 to November 4 while TIFFCOM will run over three days from October 28-30.
The main venues of festival, hosted by Unijapan, will continue to be located in the Hibiya-Yurakucho-Marunouchi-Ginza area. TIFFCOM will continue to be located in the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-Kan. The market is organised by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Internal Affairs, Communications (MIC) and Unijapan.
The call for entries is scheduled to begin on April 7.
Last year’s edition of the festival screened 184 films and recorded 69,162 admissions, up 12.3% on 61,576 admissions in 2024. Some 2,557 international guests attended and TIFF’s top prize was awarded to Annemarie Jacir’s Palestine 36.
Last year’s 22nd edition of TIFFCOM recorded 4,610 participants, up 13% on the previous year, with 1,905 international attendees from 46 countries and regions.
It was also revealed at last year’s festival that Japan will be the country of honour at the Cannes Marche du Film in May.
