Other Angle president Olivier Albou said TWC had picked up the title for North America, Latin America and China.

TWC has grossed more than $7m with Intouchables in the US and TWC co-chief Harvey Weinstein recently confirmed to the French press that his “objective” was for Intouchables to run for the Best Picture Oscar.

Over the summer, Sy moved to Los Angeles with his family to make a crack at Hollywood. The actor was signed by UTA earlier this year.

David Charhon’s On The Other Side of the Tracks stars Sy as a street-wise police cop based in a rough Parisian suburb who joins forces with an uptight officer from an elite, central Paris crime squad to solve the murder of a prominent businessman’s wife.

Other territories to have picked up On The Other Side include Benelux (Victory), Italy (Medusa), Spain (Vertigo), Switzerland (Frenetic), Poland (Gutek), Hungary (MTVA), Greece (Village), Portugal (Pris), Turkey (Calinos), Germany (Senator) and Israel (Nachshon).

The picture will be released by Mars Distribution in France on Dec 19, some 14 months after Intouchables hit French screens at the beginning of Nov 2011.

Other Angle is handling international sales on another Sy-starrer: Olivier Dahan’s The Dream Team, also co-starring Jose Garcia, Gad Elmaleh, Franck Dubosc, Joey Starr, Ramzy and Jean-Pierre Marielle as a once famous soccer team which tries to re-form. Warner Bros will release the film in France on September 26.

The picture has recently sold to Benelux (Elysee), Switzerland (Praesens), Italy (Medusa), Spain (Alimpro), Russia (Big Movie), Korea (Pure), Greece (Village), Lebanon (Fatallah), Hungary (MTVA), Taiwan (Khan) and Brazil (Imovision).

Other hot titles on Other Angle’s Toronto slate include Frederic Forrestier’s Stars 80, inspired by the story behind a series of real-life 80s pop revival concerts and featuring stars such as Boys (Summertime Love) singer Sabrina and Voyage Voyage songstress Desireless. It is the latest production from Oscar-winning producer Thomas Langmann.
