EXCLUSIVE: UK sales agent WestEnd Films has boarded Corinna Faith’s UK horror Unspeakable, starring Babyteeth actors Eliza Scanlen and Essie Davis.

A young mother struggles to connect with her newborn baby. Ashamed and exhausted, she tells no one. An ancient creature, that is drawn to mothers who are struggling, begins to circle, with a primal battle begins between the mother and the force.

Production is to commence in Wales this spring.

The film reunites Faith with producer Rob Watson of Air Street Films, with whom she worked on her feature debut, 2021’s The Power. Watson produces alongside Tristan Goligher of The Bureau, whose credits include two Berlinale premieres, Queen At Sea and A Prayer For The Dying.

Elwen Rowlands co-produces for Little Door Productions. Unspeakable was developed with BFI support. Production funding comes from Ffilm Cymru Wales.

The acquisition comes under WestEnd’s brand WeLove, aimed at developing and producing female-specific content and promoting female talent.

The project reunites key creatives from The Power, including cinematographer Laura Bellingham and composer Max De Wardener. Further heads of department are composer Elizabeth Bernholz (Gazelle Twin), casting directors Nathan Toth and Julie Harkin (Dune: Prophecy, Femme) and sound designer Joakim Sundstrom (The Banshees of Inisherin).

Unspeakable explores the unspoken complexities of motherhood while delivering an exciting, scary thrill ride,” said Faith.

“This will be a taut, fast, edge-of-the-seat horror that examines a mother’s simultaneous love and suffocation, and the reality that many women still feel silenced or unheard. Shot largely in daylight for a fresh, unsettling look, Unspeakable will combine rooted performances by two phenomenally talented actors and sustained suspense into a commercial, character-driven horror with global appeal.”

“Corinna uses the language of horror to tap into something deeply human— the unspoken realities of postpartum life, where love, doubt, and fear collide,” added WestEnd’s managing director Maya Amsellem. “Unspeakable is both emotionally incisive and genuinely terrifying. It’s a universal character-led genre film that reflects our ongoing commitment to female voices and we are thrilled to partner with Air Street and The Bureau to bring this incredible film to audiences worldwide.”
