The seven-week enterprise sponsored by Latino Public Broadcasting will take place in Los Angeles and accommodate 14 filmmakers and nine projects.

Documentary Lab Mentors include filmmakers AJ Schnack (Convention), Laura Gabbert (No Impact Man), Scott Hamilton Kennedy (The Garden), Sundance Film Festival senior programmer Caroline Libresco and producers Heather Rae (Frozen River) and Eddie Schmidt (Troubadours). 

“We could not be more excited by the projects in our first Documentary Lab,” Josh Welsh, Film Independent’s director of talent development, said. “It’s an astonishing group of films and filmmakers, and we’re honoured to be working with them. We are also deeply grateful to the filmmakers who are serving as mentors and guest speakers to the Lab.”
