Beijing-based Bona International Film Group has also boarded the project as co-producer alongside Polish animation studio Breakthru.

Heather Graham has joined Chinese pianist Lang Lang in the cast of 3D family adventure The Flying Machine, produced by Oscar-winning Polish animation studio Breakthru Films (Peter And The Wolf).
 
Beijing-based Bona International Film Group has also boarded the project as co-producer alongside Breakthru and other European producers. Exclusive Film Distribution is handling international sales in Western territories, while Hong Kong-based Distribution Workshop is handling Asia.
 
A combination of 3D live action and stop motion animation, the film is being made to celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the birth of Chopin. The story, about a family that takes to the skies in an amazing flying machine, was inspired by the music of Chopin, which will be performed by Lang Lang who also stars.
 
Breakthru’s Martin Clapp and Geoff Lindsay are co-directing the film, with Breakthru creative principle Hugh Welchman as producer. Welchman was awarded the Oscar for Best Short Animation for Peter And The Wolf in 2008.
 
Co-producers on the film also include the Polish Film Institute, Polish broadcaster TVP, Canal Plus (Poland), Norway’s Storm Studio and France’s Denis Friedman Production. The production is also supported by Lodz City Council.
 
In addition to the feature film, the ambitious multi-media project will include 24 short films based on Chopin’s 24 Etudes, an online game and live stage performances. The feature film is is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
