French feature Le Grand Soir (The Big Night) and French-German co-production Le Fils De L’autre (The Son Of The Other) are among the Screenbase additions this week.

Two brothers who embark on an adventure upon learning that they do not share the same father are at the centre of Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern latest feature  Le Grand Soir. Based on the screenplay by the directors, the comedy/drama is produced by France’s GMT Productions and has Benoît Poelvoorde and  Albert Dupontel in the lead roles. Singer Brigitte Fontaine and composer Areski Belkacem are also among the cast. Canal + and the regional funding bodies  Aquitaine and  Poitou-Charentes provide financial backing. Shooting will kick off on July 3 and is scheduled to complete on August 1, with Funny Balloons handling international sales and Ad Vitam releasing across France.

In Tel Aviv, Lorraine Levy is currently in the third week of shooting  Le Fils De L’autre, a drama that focuses on an Israeli Jew and a Palestinian Arab who discover they were swapped at birth in Haifa amid the chaos of local bombings. Produced by Virginie Lacombe and Éric Amouyal for Rapsodie Production, with France 3 Cinema, Cité Films and Solo Film Verleih acting as co-producer, the €2.7m ($3.9m) also received financial backing from the Orange Cinéma Séries. Levy co-cripted the project with Nathalie Saugeon and Noam Fitoussi. The cast comprises Mehdi Dehbi, Jules Sitruk, Pascal Elbé and Emmanuelle Devos. Shooting will finish at the end of June and Haut et Court has taken French distribution rights with Roissy Films appointed international sales agent.
