Kevin Macdonald will direct the comedic whodunit Murder Mystery from new production and financing company Tower Hill Entertainment.

Written by Zodiac screenwriter James Vanderbilt, who also scripted Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot, Murder Mystery centres on bickering Brooklyn honeymooners who unwittingly become fugitives across Europe when the eighth richest man in the world is murdered in front of them.

Tower Hill Entertainment optioned the screenplay in turnaround from Disney. Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson of ContraFilm, who scored a hit with their Journey To The Center Of The Earth remake, are producing with Vanderbilt and Tower Hill’s A J Dix and William Shively.

Macdonald is represented by Natasha Galloway at United Agents and by WME Entertainment. Vanderbilt is represented by Mikkel Bondesen at Fuse Entertainment and by WME Entertainment.

Tower Hill Entertainment is owned by entrepreneur Shively and operated by president of production Dix. The pair have been partners for more than a decade, producing and financing ten films together under FilmEngine.

Their credits include Lucky Number Slevin, The Butterfly Effect franchise, Sleepwalking with Charlize Theron, and the upcoming The Rum Diary starring Johnny Depp.

Shively is the CEO and owner of Tower Hill Insurance Group, based in Gainesville, Florida, and Dixiana Farms in Lexington, Kentucky.
