Mandeville Films partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman have closed a deal with Warner Bros for a pitch with screenwriter Bill Birch to write the action film Collared.

The action-comedy stems from an original idea by Hoberman about a mysterious group of prisoners held captive in Southern Nevada in the military base Area 51.

Hoberman and Lieberman will produce and Mandeville’s senior vice-president David Manpearl will take an executive producer credit. Jon Berg will oversee for Warner Bros.

The project marks Birch’s fourth writing deal for Warner Bros after Weekend Warrior, One Finger Salute, and Shazam!

Mandeville Films produced the upcoming drama The Fighter in association with Relativity Media and is also producing the next Muppet feature film for Disney, set to begin shooting in November.
