National Geographic Entertainment has started production on Hidden Worlds, a 3D giant-screen film from the Cinema Ventures group.

The announcement follows the signing of a co-financing agreement with China’s Tiger8 Media at Sundance.

National Geographic is producing Hidden Worlds with additional funding support from Lockheed Martin Corporation and the National Science Foundation.

Louie Schwartzberg is directing the film, which explores the world of nanotechnology and offers a peek at things that cannot be seen by the naked eye because they are either too fast, too slow or too small.

National Geographic Cinema Ventures will distribute Hidden Worlds to the global network of giant-screen and digital 3D cinemas, with Tiger8 Media handling all Asian territories.
