Two high profile new Norwegian features are being fast-tracked - Morten Tyldum’s historical drama Tordenskjold, and Arild Fröhlich’s family feature Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder. They will receive $20 million and $17 million state funding, respectively.
Directed by Headhunters’ Tyldum, Tordenskjold tells the story of 18th century nobleman and naval officer Peter Wessel Tordenskjold, celebrated as a hero both in Norway and Denmark.
Mikael Olsen and Gert Duve Skovlund have scripted the feature which will be produced by John M Jacobsen and Sveinung Golimo for Norway’s Filmkameratene, Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Marie Gade for Denmark’s Zentropa Entertainments. It will shoot in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Germany, most likely from next summer.
SF Norge will handle the local release with, Svensk handling international sales.
Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder is based on a children’s book by Norwegian bestselling author Jo Nesbø (Headhunters). It tells the story of two children’s encounter with their new neighbour, an eccentric professor who invents strange potions and powders.
Maipo Film’s Cornelia Boysen and Synnøve Hørsdal are producing and Arild Fröhlich is directing. The film will shoot from April 2013 and Nordisk will release in 2014.
