New Regency and Gore Verbinski’s Blind Wink are joining forces on Pyongyang. Separately MGM has secured feature rights to Jojo Moyes’ bestseller Me Before You.

Verbinksi [pictured] will direct and produce Pyongyang, a darkly comic account of a young animator who is accused of spying after he is outsourced to work in North Korea.

Steve Conrad adapts Guy Delisle’s graphic novel and previously collaborated with Verbinksi on The Weather Man.

Verbinski is currently in post-production on Buena Vista’s summer release The Lone Ranger. CAA represents both Verbinski and Conrad.

MGM’s new property Me Before You tells the story of a small town girl who becomes a care-giver to a successful man who has become wheelchair-bound following an accident.

The studio negotiated the deal with Jessica Cooper of Curtis Brown on behalf of Moyes. MGM svp of production Cassidy Lange will oversee for the studio.
