The Living And The Dead director Simon Rumley has also written the script for the China-set thriller, which is inspired by Steven Spielberg’s 1971 film Duel.

British film-maker Simon Rumley is to direct Stranger, a thriller chase movie set in rural China. Rumley has written the script for the feature, which is inspired by Spielberg’s Duel, about a terrified driver who is stalked by a truck.

Casting begins this week and filming is scheduled for early 2012. Mark Foligno and Bob Portal are producing.

Rumley, whose Texas-set sexual thriller Red White & Blue is being released by Trinity in the UK this Friday, is also attached to direct another feature in Texas, The Cherished One.

The dark thriller about a serial killer who uses his young daughter to entice his victims has been written by Lena Rae, and will be produced by Ray and Matt Marshall, of Festivals Films.
