EXCLUSIVE: Untitled Sally Potter drama starring Elle Fanning, Annette Bening, Christina Hendricks and Alice Englert is shooting now in and around London.

The Match Factory has closed pre-sales on Sally Potter’s new untitled drama (formerly known as Bomb) for Australia (Transmission) and Scandinavia (Future Film). Concorde Filmverleih had acquired for Germany.

Elle Fanning, Christina Hendricks, Annette Bening, Alice Englert, Alessandro Nivola, Timothy Spall, Oliver Platt and Jodhi May star in Potter’s first film since 2009 drama Rage, which is now shooting in and around London.

Set in 1961 London, against a backdrop of Cold War and sexual revolution, the drama will explore how the lifelong friendship of two teenage girls – Fanning and Englert - is threatened by the clash of desire and the determination to survive.

While plot details are being kept largely under wraps, it is understood Hendricks and Alessandro Nivola will play the parents of Elle Fanning’s character and Benning is a family friend.

The film received one of the BFI’s largest production grants between June 2011 and January 2012 of just over £1m.

Potter regular Christopher Sheppard produces with Andrew Litvin. Backers include the BFI, BBC Films, The Match Factory, Ingenious, Media House Capital and Miso Film.
