Latin singing superstar Ricky Martin is close to signing to star in his feature film debut in The Assassination - a political action thriller being directed by George A Romero and co-starring Oscar nominee Ed Harris, James Coburn and Anthony Quinn..

Set to start shooting in April, The Assassination is based on real life events surrounding the assassination of Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo. Highland Crest Pictures is co-producing the film and selling worldwide rights.

Martin would play heroic revolutionary Tavito de la Maza, if negotiations are concluded successfully. He has already agreed to perform the title song to the film and contribute to the soundtrack. Constellation Entertainment, the new venture capital and rights management company headed by J David Williams, will co-finance the film.
