Magnolia Pictures has concluded its North American deal for Frank while SPC has made another acquisition, taking a basket of rights to Love Is Strange.

Lenny Abrahamson directed Frank from a screenplay by Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan. Domhnall Gleeson stars with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scoot McNairy and Michael Fassbender, who plays a musician wearing a giant papier-mâché head.

Magnolia plans a summer release and negotiated the deal with WME Global and worldwide sales agent Protagonist Pictures.

Frank is an Element Pictures/Runaway Fridge production for Film4, BFI, Protagonist Pictures and the Irish Film Board.

Sony Pictures Classics picked up North America, Germany and Scandinavia on Ira Sachs’ Berlin-bound Love Is Strange.

John Lithgow and Alfred Molina play a gay couple who get married, only to be forced to live apart after they lose their home.

Sachs and Mauricio Zacharias co-wrote the screenplay to the Parts & Labor drama. SPC brokered the deal with WME Global. Fortissimo holds international rights.
