Alberto Iglesias picked up the main prize at the World Soundtrack Awards for his work on The Monk, The Skin I Live In and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

The closing event of the 39th Ghent Film Festival in Belgium saw Iglesias win Film Composer of the Year and Best Original Film Score of the Year 2012 for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Held last night (Oct 21), the ceremony also awarded Brian Byrne Best Original Song Written for Film for Lay Your Head Down, which featured in Albert Nobbs. Byrne also won the Discovery of the Year Award.

The Public Choice Award went to Abel Korzeniowski for W.E., while Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Don’t Look Now) received a World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Mike Stoller.

During and after the ceremony the Brussels Philharmonic performed music by various composers and the orchestra received a Certificate for Outstanding Recognition.
