Trust Film Sales and Bac Films are to handle international sales on two projects pitched at this week's Cartoon Movie co-production market in Babelsberg.

Trust will be handling international distribution for Valeria Edwina Saunders' Prima Ballerina which is being produced by her company Rambling Rose Animation Studio with Denmark's Zentropa, Hungarian Andras Erkel's Studio Baestarts and Germany's Lunaris Film- und Fernsehproduktion.

During her pitching of this project in concept, Saunders revealed that the Cinderella-like tale about an eight year old dreaming of becoming a Prima Ballerina at the Royal Ballet of Bournonville had already been picked up for theatrical release by Walt Disney for the Nordic countries.

Meanwhile, France's Bac Films is in place to sell Eckhart Fingberg's Jasper - The Movie, based on the TV series Jasper - The Penguin airing by WDR since 2002, which has been produced by Hamburg-based Toons 'n' Tales Filmproduktion with France's Amuse Films and Romania's Dacodac Studios, with additional work carried out at the Cologne studios of Daywalker Studios and Animagix.

As Toons 'n' Tales' owner Sunita Struck pointed out during the pitch at Cartoon Movie, the Euros 8m children's feature about the adventures of the penguin brothers Jasper and Junior will become the first animation feature not originating from the US to be released by the German outpost of 20th Century Fox.

The US major plans to open the film in German cinemas at the end of this year and will be showing the first teaser trailer for Jasper - The Movie before screenings of Fox's Horton Hears A Who which is released in Germany on March 13.
