CBS Films and Regal Entertainment have partnered with the Foursquare app on a Comic-Con promotion centred on upcoming release The To Do List.
According to a press release, when users of the social networking platform “check in” at the San Diego convention this week, many will be offered the chance to take a friend to see The To Do List opening weekend for free at a local Regal Cinemas, United Artists or Edwards Theatres venue.
The promotion marks the first time Foursquare has partnered with a film studio to promote a film directly to its users.
CBS Films vp of interactive marketing Matt Gilhooley said: “The opportunity to be part of Foursquare’s first ever direct film promotion at Comic-Con with our partners at Regal is ideal because it is the perfect way to engage the most active theatregoers. The To Do List is a film best enjoyed with a rowdy crowd and this social execution will reward avid moviegoers for spreading the word.”
The To Do List opens theatrically on Jul 26.
