UK cinema chain Vue Entertainment has signed an “agreement in principle” with Sony Europe to install 4K digital cinema projection systems across its circuit.
The agreement, which is yet to be finalised, is part of the cinema chain’s ongoing transition towards full digital projection across its 68 sites in the UK and Ireland. If the agreement goes ahead, Vue will become the largest cinema circuit entirely equipped with Sony 4K digital technology in Europe.
Tim Richards, CEO, Vue Entertainment said he was “very excited to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sony Europe for the deployment of their incredible digital 4K projectors across our circuit.
David McIntosh, Sony’s head of digital cinema in Europe, added that the company was “delighted to have reached such a significant agreement with Vue Entertainment. The potential collaboration of our two brands will help to deliver the best possible cinematic experience available on the market to movie-goers.”
