Most popular shooting location remained central Ile de la France region.

French feature film production, in terms of days, was stable in 2011 against 2010, according to a report released by Film France, the state-backed body aimed at promoting the country as a shooting destination.

According to the report to be presented at Cannes today, shooting hours on French productions stagnated at 6,637 hours for 186 pictures in 2011 against 6,606 in 2010.

‘The level of activity is superior to the 1998 to 2002 period but inferior to the 2005 to 2008 period,” the report observed.

According to the study, France’s central Ile de la France region remained the most popular destination accounting for 44% of the shooting hours, followed by the provinces with a 32% share and foreign destinations with 25%.

The most popular French destination after the Ile de France was the south of France followed by Brittany.
