Fox International Productions (FIP) has acquired distribution rights in the US, Latin America and Germany to Fred Cavayé’s thriller Mea Culpa.

Vincent Lindon, Gilles Lellouche and Lebanese director-actor Nadine Labaki [pictured] star in the Gaumont production. Jean-Baptiste Dupont and Cyril Colbeau-Justin at LGM produce and Gaumont handles international sales and will release in France. Gaumont plans to release the $20m thirller in the first quarter of 2014.

Mea Culpa tells of two police officers whose lives spin out of control when one of them causes a tragic car accident. Some years later one of them must take matters into his own hands when his family is endangered.

Cavayé’s credits include Anything For Her and Point Blank, which Leverage and Working Title are developing as an English-language remake.

FIP svp of acquisitions Shebnem Askin negotiated the deal with Gaumont International head Cécile Gaget.
