Directors of the Sundance hit are attempting to self-fund a UK release.

The directors of the documentary - husband-and-wife team Andy Heathcote and Heike Bachelier - have launched a Kickstarter campaign to self-fund a summer release in the UK.

Launched on May 12, the campaign has so far managed to raise £11,783 of its £20,000 target. The project will end on June 12, giving the campaign five days to raise more than £8,200 and hit its target.

The Moo Man has already screened at the Sundance and Berlin International Film Festivals to positive reviews.

Filmed over a four-year period, the film follows farmer Steve Hook and his herd of cows. Hook works to keep his family in East Sussex small, organic and sustainable - selling milk via day-to-day delivery instead of through supermarkets.

The film’s projected theatrical release is July 12, if the Kickstarter campaign proves successful.
