Edward Noeltner’s Cinema Management Group has bulked up its Cannes slate and acquired international rights excluding Latin America to Bruno Barreto’s Reaching For The Moon.

The film, which was shot mostly in English, screened recently at Tribeca.

Reaching For The Moon is based on Matthew Chapman, Julie Sayres and Carolina Kotscho’s adaptation of Carmen L de Oliverira’s Brazilian bestseller Rare And Commonplace Flowers: The Story Of Elizabeth Bishop And Lota De Macedo Soares.

The story takes place in Brazil in the 1950s and 1960s and centres on the romance between the American Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Elizabeth Bishop and local entrepreneur Lota de Macedo Soares. Miranda Otto and Gloria Pires star.

Lucy Barreto and Paula Barreto produced and Penny Wolf and Romulo Marinho Jr served as executive producers.
