Film Movement has acquired US rights to If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle (Eu Cand Vreau Sa Fluier, Fluier) and have set a January 2011 platform release in New York ahead of nationwide roll-out.

Newcomer Florin Serban’s Romanian-language thriller tells of a young man who makes an unthinkable decision five days before he is due to be releases from juvenile detention centre.

Catalin Mitulescu produced the film, which premiered in Berlin where it won the grand jury prize and the Alfred Bauer Prize.

Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein brokered the deal with Violaine Pichon of Celluloid Dreams.
