The awards contender is enjoying a regal international run and grossed an estimated $9.4m over the weekend from 655 screens in four territories.
Colin Firth was crowned best dramatic actor at Sunday night’s Golden Globes [16] on the weekend when the film expanded by 30 screens to 428 in the UK and added $6.8m through Momentum, resulting in a dazzling $16m tally after two weekends.
The period drama has amassed $33.2m overall and FilmNation handled the bulk of international sales. The tally includes Australia, where the film is released through PPI and stands at more than $12.5m after four weekends.
The King’s Speech ranks sixth in Spain where it has grossed $3.3m after four. Greece has generated $718,000 from 15 screens
It opens in New Zealand on January 20 through PPI along with a smattering of Eastern European territories on January 21.
