The deal with sales agent Submarine bulks up HanWay’s Cannes war chest and follows the previously announced North American acquisition by Sundance Selects.

Separately, NonStop acquired Scandinavian, Icelandic and Baltic rights and has set an autumn theatrical release.

Richard Rowley’s documentary premiered at Sundance in January and follows investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill as he probes the United States’ covert wars from Afghanistan to Somalia.

David Koh and Josh Braun of Submarine brokered the Dirty Wars deal with HanWay director of sales and distribution Fabien Westerhoff and managing director Thorsten Schumacher.

The Submarine team negotiated the Scandinavian, Icelandic and Baltic acquisition with NonStop Entertainment’s distribution and acquisitions director Jakob Abrahamsson.

Anthony Arnove, Brenda Coughlin and Scahill produced and Jess Search, Sandra Whipham, Randall Wallace and Scott Roth served as executive producers.
