IM Global reports strong start to Anthem world sales arm
IM Global chief Stuart Ford has reported a strong response here to the company’s new Anthem world sales division and rights acquisition vehicle Apsara.
Ford launched Anthem after Reliance BIG Entertainment acquired a majority stake in the company, a move that allowed him to expand the LA and London-based company’s international business.
David Jourdan is the lead sales executive at Anthem, which will handle such Reliance titles as Raavan, 3 Idiots (pictured), Well Done Abba, and both the hindi version of Kites and the English language remix masterminded by Brett Ratner. Both are set for release in the US later this month.
Jourdan, who recently arrived from T&C Pictures International, is negotiating on a Mexican film and a South Korean film.
Apsara Distribution headed by Ruzanna Kegeyan is a pan-Asian distribution business that will acquire film and TV product to exploit through the likes of Reliance in India and other local partners across Asia. It will initially steer clear of the crowded and more mature Japanese and South Korean markets.
Kegeyan has already secured a much coveted official theatrical release in China for Battle For Terra 3D, which Lionsgate released in the US last summer. “Ruz has great relationships with potential Asian distribution partners and a keen understanding of pricing and audience tastes,” Ford said.
