D-Word to oversee documentary collection for new Distrify VoD platform Muvies.com.

Online film distributor Distrify has expanded its partnership with documentary professionals community The D-Word.

The pair have worked together since June 2011, with the D-Word’s 9,300 members given the opportunity to embed and sell their films through its website using the Distrify player.

This expanded partnership will see The D-Word run Distrify’s first official ‘Curated Collection’ as part of Muvies.com – Distrify’s new transactional VoD platform, launched this month with the support of the European Union’s MEDIA Programme.

The D-Word has compiled a selection of films targeted at both documentary professionals and enthusiasts.

While members have been able to promote documentaries and provide links to purchase in the existing marketplace, the new collection from the Distrify partnership will be their first curated platform for instant viewing of documentaries.

Distrify has previously announced deals with Films Transit International, I Love Docs, Danish Documentary, and the BFI. Documentaries from these organisations, including award-winning films such as The Monastery by Phie Ambo and Steve Jobs - the Lost Interview, will form a part of The D-Word Collection.

The D-Word will earn a revenue share through Distrify’s automatic affiliate system.
