Fandango Portobello Sales closes UK business

Sales and finance outfit, which handled Gomorrah and Reality, closes London office.

Sales and finance outfit Fandango Portobello Sales, responsible for Gomorrah, Reality and Mid-August Lunch, has closed its London office.

The London hub of Domenico Procacci and Kolya producer Eric Abraham’s joint venture has ceased operation after six years, with remaining sales enquiries to be handled by the company’s corporate office in Denmark.

Distribution and production activities will be handed to Fandango in Rome.

Former head of Film Four International Janine Gold, who had headed Fandango Portobello Sales for six years, and executive Sarah Nuttall are among those to exit.

Among the company’s acclaimed sales titles were Cannes Jury Prize winners Gomorrah and Reality, Berlin Silver Bear winner The Forgiveness of Blood, which it also executive-produced, and Cannes competition entries Mid-August Lunch and We Have A Pope.

The company collaborated with distributors including IFC, Mongrel, Prokino, Pyramide, Le Pacte, Lev, Artificial Eye, Soda, StudioCanal and Independent.

Abraham’s production banner Portobello Pictures, responsible for Kolya, The Forgiveness of Blood, and TV series Dalziel and Pascoe, will continue as before.

Rights for Pawel Pawlikowski’s recently wrapped Sister of Mercy will revert to Abraham.
