IMAX expands Cinepolis footprint
UPDATED APR 15: IMAX Corporation will instal five theatres in existing Cinepolis multiplexes across Mexico, the companies announced on the first day of CinemaCon on Monday  in Las Vegas. Separately IMAX has extended its deal with Paramount.
The deal will bring to 13 Cinepolis’ total IMAX commitment, with seven IMAX theatres currently open in Mexico and one active site in Brazil. Cinepolis is the world’s fifth largest circuit.
“Our vision is simple – offer the highest-quality entertainment experience possible and continually surpass our guests’ expectations,” said Cinepolis CEO Alejandro Ramirez. “IMAX helps us deliver on this promise and we’re delighted to expand our partnership.”
“Mexico is a leading movie-going market we’ve only begun to penetrate and today’s agreement proves our momentum is building in Latin America – a key area of focus for IMAX,” said IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond.
Later on Monday IMAX announced it had struck a deal to extend its agreement with Paramount to include the release of a further five of the studio’s films.
These will be Transformers 4 in June 2014, the Warner Bros co-production of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar in November 2014 and three unannounced titles.
