Filmmaker’s first picture in four years due to be released in France on March 6 on 350 screens.

Memento Films International has been racking up sales on Agnès Jaoui’s comeback picture Under the Rainbow (Au bout du Conte) ahead of its release in France on March.

Brussels-based Victory Productions recently took Benelux rights and Lisbon-based Midas Filmes, Portuguese rights following a screening at the Unifrance Rendez-vous in January.

The film has also sold to Austria (Filmladen), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Scandinavia (NonStop Entertainment), Israel (Lev Cinema), Turkey (Bir Films), Poland (Kino Swiat), Brazil (Providence), South Korea (Sponge) and Penny Black has picked it up for airlines.

Sister company Memento Films Distribution is due to release the picture on 350 screens on March 6.

It is the Taste of Others and Look At Me film-maker’s first stint behind the camera since the 2008 Parlez-moi de la Pluie.

Jaoui has reunited with long-time collaborator Jean-Pierre Bacri, to co-write the film following around a group of modern day characters as they struggle to make sense of their lives through the imagery of traditional fairytales.

The ensemble cast features upcoming actress Agathe Bonitzer, a supporting cast member of Guillaume Nicloux’s Golden Bear contender The Nun, as 24-year-old Laura, who is waiting for a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet, and Bacri as fiftysomething Pierre, who is under the spell of fortune-teller Madame Irma who has predicted his imminent demise.

Other titles on MFI’s EFM slate include Malgoska Szumowska’s Golden Bear contender In The Name Of and Forum screener Circles as well recent Sundance acquisition S-VHS.

The script is also available for Asghar Farhadi’s upcoming romance The Past starring Berenice Bejo which will be ready in time for Cannes.
