Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) has appointed Pete Wood as senior vice president, digital distribution, Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA).

Wood will oversee SPHE’s digital business across EMEA and will be responsible for driving growth in those markets. He will also continue to manage SPHE’s worldwide digital deals with hardware manufacturers.

Wood joined the company in 2006 as director, mobile business development. As vice president, international digital distribution he took on the additional responsibilities of developing new business models and helping shape the studio’s digital strategy.

“In his seven years with the studio, Pete has been a driving force behind SPHE’s digital initiatives, orchestrating many successful partnerships with electronics companies to include the studio’s content with the latest devices from Sony Electronics and other leading companies,” said executive vice president, worldwide digital distribution Jason Spivak, to whom Wood reports. 

Spivak continued: “Over the past year alone, Pete has executed numerous programs to unite Sony’s overall hardware and software initiatives, helping to make our films and TV shows more accessible on emerging platforms and positioning SPHE for the future.”
