Epic Pictures Group has closed a co-production, co-financing and international sales agreement with producer Wayne Rice (New Line’s Valentine’s Day) on Darren Lynn Bousman’s next project 11:11:11.

Principal photography is set to commence on Jan 4, 2011 in time for global release on Nov 11, 2011 and Epic chief Patrick Ewald is commencing sales here this week.

The project officially launches at this year’s American Film Market at Epic’s offices in the Loews Hotel.

Darren Lynn Bousman most recently directed Mother’s Day and Saw 2, 3 and 4.

11:11:11 draws its inspiration from the movement of the same name, whose adherents believe that the sequence portends other worldly contact. The film plot centres on the imminent arrival on Earth of something from another realm.

“With Saw, my career has been about finding new ways to freak people out - that’s what I want to do with this,” Bousman said. “We want to take this phenomenon and give it horrific purpose. The film is in the realm of The Exorcist or The Omen or The Ninth Gate, a kind of slow-burn religious movie.”

Epic will co-finance along with Barcelona-based producers Canonigo Films. “When producer Wayne Rice came to us with this project, we immediately came on board,” Ewald said. “The combination of writer-director Darren Lynn Bousman, the brilliant concept, and the once in a lifetime chance to release a film around the world on this date was too good to be true. Wayne and I closed the deal at 11:11 am.”

Epic’s sales slate include the action thriller Kill Speed from Bass Entertainment.
