Shooting commenced this week [11] in New York State on Todd Solondz’s ensemble drama Dark Horse, which occasional collaborator Ted Hope is producing through his new Double Hope Films.

Goldcrest Films is handling international sales and Derrick Tseng, who collaborated with Solondz on Life During Wartime and Palindromes, is also producing. Hope produced Happiness and Storytelling.

“We would drop whatever we were doing to get a chance to collaborate with Todd again,” Hope and Tseng said. “He is one-of-a-kind and always delivers both a unique film and a fun shoot.”

Jordan Gelber and Selma Blair star in the story of a thirtysomething toy collector living in his parents’ shadow who becomes engaged to a failed academic with disastrous consequences. Mia Farrow, Christopher Walken, Justin Bartha and Donna Murphy round out the key cast.

Two weeks ago Hope announced he and former This Is That partners Anne Carey and Diana Victor were disbanding the company.

Hope and Carey will continue to work together and explore solo projects, while Victor is pursuing new opportunities.
