Newly elected American Society Of Cinematographers (ASC) president Michael Goi said the organisation was collaborating with other trade guilds to drive Hollywood towards “a higher quality bar” for the industry.
Goi, best known for his work on TV’s My Name Is Earl and The Fixer, was just elected to the post by fellow ASC members. Richard Crudo, Owen Roizman and Victor J Kemper were named vice-presidents, Matthew Leonetti was elected treasurer, Rodney Taylor secretary, and John C Flinn III sergeant-at-arms.
The other new board members are: Curtis Clark, George Spiro Dibie, Richard Edlund, John Hora, Stephen Lighthill, Isidore Mankofsky, Daryn Okada, Nancy Schreiber, Haskell Wexler and Vilmos Zsigmond.
“We are partnering with the Producers Guild Of America on a groundbreaking assessment of film and digital cameras that are currently used during the production of theatrical motion pictures,” Goi said.
“We are also collaborating with other organisations, including a previsualisation sub-committee with the Art Directors Guild and Visual Effects Society, designed to help drive the industry toward a higher quality bar for the art and craft of moving images.”
