The star of March 11 new release 10 Cloverfield Lane joins previously announced J.K. Simmons and Mark Wahlberg on CBS Films and Lionsgate’s Boston Marathon bombing drama.
Goodman will play former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, who played a key role in working with law enforcement and first responders to apprehend the suspects.
Peter Berg will direct Patriots Day and Scott Stuber is producing with Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky.
CBS Films handles production and marketing while Lionsgate will distribute the film. The partners are co-financing the feature.
Production is scheduled to begin later this month in Boston ahead of a December 21 release.
