French director Marion Laine co-wrote romance about two surgeons.

Juliette Binoche and Edgar Ramirez are set to co-star in French director-actress Marion Laine’s fourth film, the provisionally titled A Monkey on My Shoulder (Un Singe sur L’Epaule).

The film is due to start shooting in Marseille on Oct 24.

Ever-in-demand Binoche has three films set to hit theatres in the next six months: Sylvie Testud’s La Vie d’une autre, in which she stars opposite Mathieu Kassovitz, Malgorzata Szumowska’s Elles and David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis.

Venezuelan Ramirez, who was nominated in the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards for his performance in Olivier Assayas’ Carlos, recently came off the set of Clash of the Titans, in which he plays the god of war Ares.

Laine co-wrote the script for the film alongside Anne Le Ny. It revolves around the romance between two top surgeons, one from France, the other hailing from South America.

The film is produced by French-based Thelma Films and Manchester Films, in a co-production with France 3 Cinema and MK2, which is handling international sales.
