EXCLUSIVE: Producer Angus Lamont announces a number of projects developed for his Crab Apple Films with slate funding from Creative Scotland.

Producer Angus Lamont (Donkey Punch, Late Night Shopping etc) has announced a number of projects developed for his Crab Apple Films with slate funding from Creative Scotland. The Glasgow-based independent has attached Rhianna Pratchett to write the screenplay of the Janet Paisley historical novel Warrior Daughter, an epic tale of a Celtic queen learning the skills that will allow her to claim her throne prior to the arrival of the Romans in Britain.

Pratchett is the daughter of science-fiction writer Terry Pratchett and has previously written the DC Comics miniseries Mirror’s Edge and a number of fantasy gaming titles including Sony’s PS3 Heavenly Sword.

“We have been working on these projects for the past couple of years bringing them to a point where they can now be announced as the company defines the kind of quality genre material we want to make, ” says Lamont.
Crab Apple are also developing the supernatural thriller Behind You which journalist and broadcaster Muriel Gray is adapting from her own original story set in a remote stalking lodge in the western highlands of Scotland.

Crab Apple have previously announced four projects in collaboration with Warp Films; Falklands war story Destroyer to be directed by Tom Shankland, life after death drama SUM Tales From The Afterlives, 71, an original action thriller from writer Gregory Burke set during the early days of the troubles in Belfast which has also attracted finance from Northern Ireland Screen, and Modify Or Die, a custom car racing film that will reunite the Donkey Punch team of Lamont, writer/director Olly Blackburn, screenwriter David Bloom and UK distributor Optimum.
